Midterms

Okay so we do this thing, called "group midterm". That means we don't individually sign up for teacher comments, we do it in a FUCKING GROUP. We did it last semester and it took fucking forever. Here's how it goes:

First people, like the first two or three people get forty minutes, which is WAY too long with about eighteen to twenty people in a class, then the next people get thirty minutes because we have to "pick up the pace", my ass, then prof goes, "okay, lunch break, but instead of an hour I REALLY want you to be back in forty-five minutes" ("I really want" meaning "if you don't I'll fuckin fail you for the midterm because lateness is unacceptable!!"), so we go and rush back after shoving something in our mouths and prof goes "gotta pick up the pace" so he spends thirty minutes on each person anyway, then twenty then goes "someone time me" so I go "okay ten minutes prof" and he goes "okay let me wrap this up" and spends another ten minutes wrapping it up, and I say "twenty minutes prof" and he says "let me wrap this up" (again) and spends five minutes "wrapping it up", my ass, so then finally we really only spend fifteen minutes per person and the last people get shafted because class only goes from nine to three and it's three thirty and no one wants to properly critique the last people which is unfair and then we don't even get to the last six people which is about 33% of the goddamn class

Yesterday for my writing class we watched Secretary, about this woman...Nevermind, IMDB or wiki that shit... It's a 2002 movie with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader (if I spelled their names right) and...if someone could explain why we watched it for class I'd be grateful.

The RCA group process was today... I think I did all right. Iuno...

I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow with Katie yesterday. It was visually awesome, all CG'd, and it had robots !! but it was a shitty plot, etc. But it was still cool... I want robot and a free-floating island. Kind of like Feres Isle. Hehehe....

Just had my interview for the RCA position. Gonna apply for DA and maybe Admissions (tours/answering phone, etc.), dunno if I can do the latter with work-study at the bookstore (because I wanna keep working there should my supervisor ask for me next year).

It was thirty minutes long. I don't know if that's shorter than the usual (which would be bad). I joked around with them a bit, made them laugh, and I think that might be bad too. I made eye contact most of the time, but sometimes I'd look off a bit if my answer to their questions were long. I tried to be calm, and I was for the most part, but my leg kept jumping under the table. Didn't hit any of them though. I hope that it turns out okay. If I don't get it that's okay. I mean, it's not, but no biggie... Does that make sense?

Gotta work on sculpture... Ugh. I don't want to.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Don't get too worked up, positively or negatively.

Classes open at noon, whoo hoo. I woke up at 5:30 for nothing.

I don't want to go to class tomorrow.

I handed in competitive scholarship and RCA apps recently; I hope I get one or the other. I'll probably apply for DA and something else as soon as I find out about other jobs on campus. It'll be spiffy. Since I only work 7.5 hours a week at the store (because it's federal work-study), I think I can fit another job in. I really want to, anyway.

Went to MICA's second annual SSBM singles tournament. I fought against one of the people that I beat last semester in the team tourney, and I won, then I went against this guy who destroyed me. After that there was a loser's bracket where I played three rounds. The person who was supposed to play me for third place left, so I got...a poster. :') The winner I think was Tyler...? He was using Luigi in a pretty bad-ass way. The winner of the losers (haha sounds funny) was Mark, who played as Yoshi (cheating dinosaur!) and beat his usual fighting partner's Mario.

I dunno, nothing really exciting in life. Not like anything life-threatening or traumatizing has happened. I did have a dream... I got diabetes. Also had another dream where I failed all my classes. And another dream where one of my teachers told me I was failing and the only way to pull up my grade was to escort this weird French exchange student around B'more and do sketches or something (wtf, don't ask me), and the French exchange student sold me to the mafia or something... I had to cart crack to clients and... it was weird. I woke up after I hid in a garbage can, witnessing a murder. I hope that doesn't happen.

My head is throbbing ehehe

I have this intense fear of walking to class and getting shot (because it's Baltimore) and then I'd be late for class and then no one would be able to explain to the professor why I was late...

I had a dream that I got shot and taken the hospital, but I wasn't alive enough to call a friend and tell him/her that I got shot and couldn't make it to class - but is that a viable excuse, or would it lower my grade?

...Does anyone else have this fear?

On Friday I saw this movie called Pan's Labyrinth. It was good. Physically beautiful. Tragic, if you will. Splattered, but realistically.

On Saturday I saw this movie called No Mercy for the Rude. (the English title. In Korean it's something else). It was good. Funny. Splattered, but it was totally sweets.

Today in color theory class, we had to make a color wheel, right? So I pasted squares of color on the board from the computer using common HTML hexes, and then Illustrator converted them to CMYK before printing. Before I explained this, the teacher told me to do it over again, but then I told him that it was my idea was that if the printer is calibrated correctly, the colors the computer is giving the program should come out same on different printers/operating systems/browsers.

Then he was all, "that's so good, blah blah, documenting your process" (process over product comes up once again).

So, I'm really good at bullshitting, hooray.

I feel sick. ;D

If something sticks out too much that means the conversion of what's there to greyscale on paper is much, much harder

You know, maybe I should write/post/etc more in this, maybe it'll become a part of a valuable study when humans in the future examine us and wonder why we had social networks such as MySpace, Facebook, etc. Or not. I had a dream about it, though.

Color Theory tomorrow. I'm not exactly looking forward to it because of my Elements teacher (who is also my academic advisor). He's not a bad person but he can be a real toolbag to some of my classmates which is a bad reason to dislike someone but I do, whoo hoo, run on sentence!

Oh, in unrelated news, it snowed.

Almost done all of the cards. I have to see if Kinko's will print out on paper I'm bringing; I'm not going to buy 3.75 a sheet or whatever for "nicer" paper if I already have it.

Why do I have a paid account?

I'm working on the cards! They should be finished tonight...So...If I send them today or Wednesday, they should reach their destinations by this year!! I hope.

I signed up for my final at around 9 am, but I went in the first slot since the first person (Vika) wasn't ready. Because I was there are 8 am, because I didn't plan my layout at all. But that's okay. I think it went well, like I said, my teacher was the type to give out Bs because he didn't want his students becoming overconfident. Oh well, it doesn't matter. My grades for my assignments were mostly Bs... Like, B, B-, B, C+, A, A-, and I don't know if that includes my midterm (B) or my sketchbook (B-), but I think I have a B overall anyway. He also liked my final project. Maybe I'll scan some, but it's all kind of...boring.

I spent time helping people put up their work and now my thumb is purple. :)
